Why we clean this way
The fastest way to clean a grill is to spray it with a strong chemical cleaner and blast it with a pressure washer. It's also the way that leaves residue on your cooking surfaces, forces water into gas valves and electronics, and sends grease across your patio and into the storm drain.
In Orange County, storm drains aren't connected to a treatment plant. What goes into them flows through the creeks and channels and out to the ocean. A single grill cleaning can wash a surprising amount of grease and carbon off a patio, so where that runoff goes matters.
So we do it the slower way. More scraping, more brushing, steam instead of solvents, and every bit of grease collected and hauled away.
Our approach
What makes it green
Steam at about 212°F
High-temperature steam loosens baked-on carbon and rinses parts clean, so we need far less degreaser to get the job done.
Water-based, biodegradable degreaser
No chlorinated or fluorinated solvents and no acids. Ask what we use and we'll tell you.
Mechanical cleaning first
Scrapers, brushes and a vacuum do most of the work. Chemistry is a helper, not the whole plan.
No pressure washing
Hand cleaning uses a fraction of the water, keeps grease from spraying around, and keeps water out of valves and igniters.
Nothing down the drain
Tarps and mats catch runoff. Grease and carbon go into our containers and leave with us.
Repair before replace
A new burner or igniter keeps a good grill cooking for years and out of the landfill. We only suggest replacement when repair doesn't make sense.
The trade-off
Eco-friendly cleaning takes more time than a chemical spray-and-rinse. Our techs spend longer on each grill, because more of the work is done by hand. That's built into how we schedule, and it's why most cleanings take 3 to 4 hours.
What you get for that time is a grill that's clean all the way through, cooking surfaces without harsh residue, a patio that looks the way it did before we arrived, and nothing left in the storm drain.
Good for your grill too
Harsh cleaners can dull stainless finishes, and pressure washers push water into places it shouldn't be. Steam and hand cleaning are gentler on the grill, which is one more reason they help it last.

Eco cleaning questions
Does eco-friendly grill cleaning work as well as harsh chemicals?
Yes, it just takes more time and more hand work. Harsh chemicals dissolve grease faster, but steam, scraping, brushing and a biodegradable degreaser get the same grease off without leaving harsh residue on your cooking surfaces.
Is the degreaser safe around food surfaces?
We use a water-based, biodegradable degreaser without chlorinated or fluorinated solvents or acids, and parts are rinsed with steam before they go back in the grill.
Where does the grease go?
Into our containers and off your property. Runoff is caught on mats and tarps, and nothing is rinsed into your yard, gutter or storm drain.
